Description / Propane Gas
Propane is stored in red cylinders and is mainly used for commercial heating and large appliance fuel.
Propane is available in four sizes as follows:
- 6Kg Propane cylinders – Ideal for cooking and heating in caravans and motorhomes and for year round use in touring caravans.
- 13Kg Propane cylinders – as per the 6kg cylinder but due to the extra capacity, often used for light commercial and exterior domestic use such as greenhouse heaters.
- 19kg Propane cylinders – As well as the use applications of the smaller cylinders, being slightly larger these also have more commercial uses such as cooking in catering vans.
- 47Kg Propane – These are generally used for commercial heating / drying such as static caravans however they are also used for cooking, heating and light commercial use where larger capacity is preferred.
Please note:
- Propane cylinders must not be used inside domestic dwellings
- Caravans and Motorhomes built to BSEN1949 will be fitted with a bulkhead mounted regulator requiring only a hose connector
- Typical connector for smaller propane cylinders (6Kg and 13Kg) is a Propane Pol connection 37mbar 1.5kg/hr Regulator to 8mm nozzle.
- Calor recommends that all installations are protected with an Over Pressure Shut Off (OPSO) device incorporated in the regulator / Change Over Valve
- All LPG installations must be undertaken by a suitably qualified Gas Safe Registered Engineer.
