Description / QLF Dry Cow 20 + Mag

QLF Dry Cow 20 + Mag offers a simple and convenient means to supply magnesium to dry cows whilst stimulating forage dry matter intake through highly palatable 6 carbon sugars. QLF’s magnesium liquids use Magnesium Chloride which is the most bio available form of magnesium for the animal, and when combined with sugar, increases the absorption of magnesium across the gut wall. QLF Dry Cow 20 + Mag contains a general purpose cattle mineral and 20% protein as fed. QLF Dry Cow 20 + Mag is suitable for suckler cows and lower yielding dairy herds.

The vitamin and mineral pack includes magnesium to reduce the risk of Milk Fever by helping the ability of the cow to regulate Calcium blood concentrations.

QLF Dry Cow products are effective by:

  • Increasing ration palatability and intake, thus the cow actually eats the required kilograms of straw or high fibre forage.
  • Improving fibre digestibility, making better use of the diet the cow has eaten.
  • Reducing ration separation and ration sorting.
  • Distributing nutrients and additives (minerals) uniformly.

Our transport team will call you to inform you of when delivery will be made, so please ensure that you can be reached on the contact number(s) provided. Please note IBC containers carry over 1T in weight so please ensure the facility is in place to unload the product upon delivery.

Application

This product may be fed to cattle during the dry period pre calving to manage milk fever risk, increase sugar and ration palatability, while helping to reduce sorting and cutting down dust.

Dry Cow 20 + Mag is formulated for ad lib feeding to make a simple affective means to supply magnesium.

The product can be used in a TMR or home mix. Inclusion rates in home mixed rations will depend on the desired consistency and ration requirements.

  • The product should be introduced gradually to acclimatise the rumen, typically in the first 1-3 days, 30% of target feed rate should be included. This should then increase to 60% (target feed rate) for days 4-6, 90% for days 7-9 and 100% after 10 days. Cease feeding at calving.

Please note these rates are for indication only and actual feed rates must be approved by your QLF representative or qualified feed advisor. Always ensure plenty of fresh, clean water and unlimited access to forage.
